Raised Decks

Raised decks offer a great outdoor extension of your indoor living space. They are the most common type of deck design when the house foundation puts the main floor several feet above grade level.

A raised deck is a great way to make use of areas that might otherwise go unused, such as sloped backyards, uneven terrain, or steep grades. Instead of limiting how you use your backyard, a raised deck creates a comfortable and functional outdoor living space that's directly connected to your home.

Raised Deck Pulsar Construction

Because raised decks are built several feet above the ground, they typically require stairs for backyard access and guardrails for safety. These features are important parts of the deck's design and construction and should be planned from the beginning of the project.

Compared to ground-level decks, raised decks require more structural framing, larger footings, support posts, beams, hardware, and careful planning. As the deck height increases, so does the importance of proper engineering, quality workmanship, and compliance with local building requirements.

Building a raised deck is not a beginner-level project. It requires the right planning, materials, skills, and equipment to build a safe, durable structure that will perform well for many years.
